CIVIC has worked in Yemen since 2018 to strengthen civilian protection and reduce conflict-related harm through engagement with communities, civil society organizations, security actors, and government institutions.

Working in a highly complex and fragmented conflict environment, CIVIC supports practical approaches to civilian harm mitigation, community-based protection, and stronger adherence to international humanitarian and human rights law.

CIVIC has built long-term relationships with local partners, military and security actors, and community leaders to strengthen protection practices, improve dialogue between civilians and security actors, and support local advocacy efforts focused on civilian safety and accountability.

Alongside this work, CIVIC conducts research and analysis on patterns of civilian harm and supports communities in developing locally grounded protection strategies responsive to evolving risks on the ground.

As conflict and instability continue affecting civilians across Yemen, CIVIC’s work remains focused on strengthening practical, civilian-centered approaches to protection, resilience, and harm mitigation.
